Elected Officials Blindsided by Talks of Seneca Nation Casino in Rochester

Elected officials say they were blindsided by the sudden discussions of a potential Seneca Nation casino in Rochester.

Mayor Malik Evans says any conversation about a Rochester casino that doesn't include local stakeholders is unacceptable.

And County Executive Adam Bello says the reports that a Rochester casino is part of the new Seneca Gaming compact are "deeply troubling."

All nine members of the Rochester City Council have sent a letter to the governor saysing they are -- in their words -- "opposed to this project as we currently understand it."

Operators of Batavia Downs and Finger Lakes Gaming & Racetrack say a Rochester casino will mean lost jobs and revenue.
