Rochester Catholic Diocese Announces Partial Child Sex Abuse Settlement

Here's an update on the settlement between the Roman Catholic Diocese of Rochester and survivors of child sexual abuse who filed suit against the diocese under the New York Child Victim's Act.

Two of the diocese's insurance companies have agreed to pay $20.6 million in an additional settlement.

That's on top of $55 million being paid by the diocese and its parishes to settle the lawsuits.

The total settlement still needs to be approved by the bankruptcy court and the 475 survivors who brought the case.

The Diocese of Rochester filed for bankruptcy as a result of the lawsuits, followed by four others across the state.
