State Assemblywoman Marjorie Byrnes is inviting citizens to join her online petition against mandatory electrification in single family homes.
The governor want to prohibit installation of natural gas furnaces and appliances in new homes by the end of 2025, and require the phase-out of gas furnaces and appliances in existing homes five years later.
Byrnes says people want the freedom to cook with gas. And she has heard concerns about heating and cooling costs and the added pressure of the mandate on the electrical grid.
