State Senate Passes Foreclosure Reversal Bill

The state Senate has given final legislative approval to a bill granting relief to some homeowners facing foreclosure.

The bill would overrule a state Court of Appeals decision last year that revived hundreds of foreclosure cases that had been closed when lenders missed a filing deadline.

The online publication New York Focus reports Governor Hochul's staff has met with lenders to hear their objections to the bill.

Most of the cases reportedly date back to the 2008 financial crisis.

The bill now goes to Governor Hochul's desk.
