This week is Speed Awareness week in New York State.
In 2020, speed related fatalities increased by 36%. The increase led to 365 deaths which included drivers, bicyclists and pedestrians.
NYS Police and local law enforcement departments will be upping the number of patrols on the roadways this week. They will be targeting speeders through Sunday.
