Legislature and Governor Cuomo Still Trying to Reach Budget agreement

The state budget is several days late, and the Legislature and Governor Cuomo are still trying to reach a final agreement.

The Wall Street Journal reports the final total of the budget is projected to be above 200-billion dollars, which would be a record.

Lawmakers and the governor have tentatively struck a deal that would raise income taxes on the state's wealthiest residents and some corporations, but issues such as mobile sports betting and education funding still need to be resolved.

If the budget isn't passed soon, Comptroller Tom DiNapoli says paychecks for thousands of state workers could be delayed.
