Gillibrand to Announce Workforce Training Legislation for New Yorkers

Senator Kirsten Gillibrand is planning today to announce legislation she says will invest in high quality workforce training so New Yorkers have the necessary skills for in demand jobs in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Because of the changing pandemic economy, Gillibrand says access to affordable and high-quality job training will be critical to help re-employ New Yorkers.

The legislation will expand funding for Pell Grants so that students pursuing high-quality, shorter-term education and training programs are eligible.

She says it would help workers afford the job training and credentials that are in-demand as industries shift during the economic recovery.
