Irondequoit Man Sentenced to 2 Years for Cyberstalking

The man who admitted to threatening a woman he was dating who became a friend of Charlie Tan, has been sentenced.

The U.S. Attorney's office says Theodore Loria was sentenced today to serve two years in federal prison followed by six months home confinement.

As first reported by the D&C, Theodore Loria pleaded guilty in June to charges he threatened in phone calls and text messages to kill the woman and her daughter.

His lawyer says Loria believed the woman was conspiring with Tan to kill him for a life insurance payout. Tan had previously been cleared of the murder of his father, and had not yet admitted in a subsequent criminal case that he killed him.

The defense says Loria had stopped taking medication for bipolar disorder.
