Uptick in Monroe County Coronavirus Cases Raises Concern

The Monroe County Department of Health says there are 54 new cases of coronavirus in the county...not yet reflecting all the new cases reported at Nazareth College.

A statement from Health Commissioner Dr. Michael Mendoza says a contact tracing team is working hard to determine where these people were exposed. He says they already know about 70 percent of them were infected through close contact with individuals recently identified as positive for COVID-19. Nearly all the remaining individuals said they were attending a social event or had traveled outside the area.

Dr. Mendoza says it's premature to conclude that this is because of increased community spread. But he urges people to keep remembering to wear your mask, socially distance and wash your hands. And stay home if you're sick.
