The state and federal governments may be close to a compromise over the Trusted Traveler programs that make it easier to re-enter the U.S. at the border.
Right now, New Yorkers aren't allowed to enroll in the programs. The new state law allowing illegal immigrants to get driver's licenses also blocks the federal government from looking at state DMV records.
