Real Estate Broker Fee Ban Blocked

A judge is blocking the recently enacted state-wide ban on real estate broker fees.

The temporary restraining order comes in response to a lawsuit filed by the New York Real Estate Association, after it claimed the ban threw the industry into confusion.

Under the new rules, renters no longer have to pay brokers who are trying to fill vacant property for landlords.

If there is a fee, the landlord must pick it up.

For now, all of that's on hold.
