Brockport President Says Students Will Help Hire New Diversity Officer

SUNY Brockport President Heidi MacPherson is promising students they will have a say in the hiring of the university's next chief diversity officer.

She told a campus town hall meeting last night there will be a national search. But she could not say why the college terminated Cephas Archie last week. She said legal reasons prevented her from doing so.

Student Gabre Potter tells 13 WHAM say Archie was a role model.

Students protested the firing on Friday and want him reinstated.

Brockport's vice president for student affairs -- Lorraine Acker -- will serve as the interim chief diversity officer.
