Bergen Man Arrested for Stealing Car, Robbing Gas Stations

The Monroe County Sheriff's Office and Gates Police say a 31-year-old Genesee County man has been arrested for two robberies committed in Chili.

Elon Seeger was wanted by the Genesee County Sheriff's Office for driving a car at deputies investigating a domestic incident Sunday in Bergen. Seeger fled in that stolen car, and was identified as a suspect in a holdup at a gas station in Chili 16 minutes later. Four and a half hours later, Monroe County deputies spotted the stolen car in Scottsville, but Seeger got away.

Monday morning, Monroe County deputies responding to a reported holdup at another gas station in Chili identified the stolen car and Elon Seeger as the suspect. They found him in a parking lot off Buffalo Road in Gates, where Seeger fought with two Gates police officers and poured gasoline on them before being subdued and arrested.

Seeger is facing charges from all three jurisdictions, starting with assault, criminal possession of stolen property, attempted assault on law officers and resisting arrest.
