Rochester City Council to Vote on State Takeover of RCSD Finances

The Rochester City Council will meet today to vote on a resolution endorsing emergency action prompted by the financial mess in the city school district.

Mayor Lovely Warren wants Governor Cuomo to order a state takeover of the district’s finances. The Special Meeting is set for 2 p.m.

The mayor says the $30 million budget overrun in the district now threatens the city's bond rating.

Without immediate fiscal controls from the state, Warren says the school district will likely continue to jeopardize its own finances and the city’s as well.
