Woman Sentenced in Arson Case

A woman who admitted setting fire to a Monroe Avenue apartment building has been sentenced to seven years in prison.

Caitlynn Acoff was sentenced today, after pleading guilty on August 30th to a second degree arson charge. The 27-year-old woman set fire to a doorway at the building early one morning in March. There were 15 tenants in the building at the time, all of whom lost their homes. One firefighter was injured.

Prosecutors called Acoff's behavior "inexcusable and shockingly negligent."
