Byron Solar Farm Will Hold Public House Before Filing Permit

The developers hoping to put a big solar power farm in Byron say there will be another public house before they file for a permit under the state public service law.

Next Era Energy is planning a 280-megawatt facility on up to 2,000 acres.

It would be called the Excelsior Energy Center.

The firm says the project will create at least 300 construction jobs, and the site could be operational in three years.

The solar farm would operate with a Payment-in-Lieu-of-Taxes deal with Genesee County, the town and the school district.
