The Erie Canal lift bridge on Main Street in Fairport is set to close today at 7 a.m.
The 105-year-old bridge will undergo a rehabilitation project lasting 13 to 15 months.
The bridge will get a new floor and updated lifting mechanisms and control towers.
Business owners are concerned the detours will keep customers away, but the village has launched a $150,000 marketing campaign called "Fairport on the Rise!"
