Sonic Boom Heard In Area Caused By Meteor

That loud 'boom' that was heard in several counties around Syracuse may have come from out of this world.

Robert Lunsford of the American Meteor Society tells a Syracuse TV station it was a sonic boom that was caused by a large meteor.

He says a fireball was reported around 5 p.m. over Lake Ontario.

He says such meteors are not uncommon and the meteor probably disintegrated into harmless tiny fragments.
