Funeral arrangements are pending for a veteran member of the Gates Fire Department, who died suddenly over the weekend after a bee sting.
Joseph Manuse was a volunteer firefighter for the last 29 years and paid Gates firefighter for 11 years.
He led community outreach and fire prevention education programs for the department, and most recently was the department's Public Information Officer.
