An 18-year-old Penfield High School graduate is in the hospital with serious injuries after falling through a sky light at Bay Trail Middle School in Penfield early this morning.
The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office says deputies were called to the school on Scribner Road early this morning and found one teen on the roof who told them his friend had fallen through a sky light. The 18-year-old told them he and his friend had been lying on the skylight, smoking marijuana when the glass gave way.
His friend fell approximately 28 feet to the gymnasium floor below.
Authorities forced their way into the school and found the teen unresponsive, on the gym floor. He suffered severe injuries and was taken to Strong Memorial Hospital in guarded condition. The incident is still under investigation, and any charges are pending.
Both teens are 2019 Penfield HS graduates. Their names are not being released.
