Jury Deliberations Could Begin Today in Skelos Retrial

Jury deliberations could begin today in the corruption retrial of former New York State Senate Majority Leader Dean Skelos and his son.

Yesterday, during closing arguments, the defense team for Skelos said the three companies that testified for the government lied to protect themselves.  Prosecutors allege Skelos pressured those companies into paying his son for no show jobs in exchange for political favors.

Skelos and his son Adam were originally convicted of bribery and extortion but the verdict was tossed after the Supreme Court narrowed the definition of political corruption.
