Funding Going Towards Program that Brings Local Food to NY Schools

More money is going towards a program that helps bring local food to New York schools.

During the state's first-ever farm-to-school summit in Binghamton, Governor Cuomo announced one-million-dollars would be available to eligible school districts.

Cuomo says the program helps K through 12 schools connect with local farmers, increase the use of locally grown food on school menus, improve student health, and educate young people about agriculture.

It's been around for two years and more than a dozen projects have benefited 108 school districts statewide.
