Rochester, N.Y. - Rochester police are crediting a Wilson Magnet High School resource officer with helping them arrest a suspect in a shootng Sunday that wounded two people, including an 11 year old boy.
The officer recognized the suspect in a surveillance camera photo as a former student.
Michael McMurty, 19, has been arrested in connection with the incident that happened around 10:30 a.m. Sunday. The 11-year-old and a 29-year-old man were shot shortly after they had left a mini-mart near the intersection of Chili Avenue and Thurston Road. They second victim, Quentin Singletary, is also facing charges in the shooting. The boy contiues to recover and is now at home.
Police Chief James Sheppard says investigators aren't sure why McMurty and Singletary were shooting at each other.
