Rochester, NY -- The War Memorial Terrace at Rochester's Blue Cross Arena is about to get a makeover.
The Community War Memorial Terrace alongside the arena faces the Genesee River.
In his letter to City Council, Mayor Tom Richards said the city wants to make it a place that can be used for public events and emphasize that it's also a community war memorial.
The mayor wants to pay a firm $124,000 to do the engineering and design work. Construction would begin in the spring.
The city expects to pay $600,000 for the renovation. It will include park amenities, green space, new pedestrian paths, rails and lighting.
