Rochester, NY -- Rochester Police Chief James Sheppard says the department is conducting a routine review of an officer's blow to a woman's head as she allegedly resisted arrest. It was caught on video Tuesday as police tried to break up a fight in the 300 block of Seyle Terrace.
According to Sheppard, Brenda Hardaway physically interfered as officers arrested her brother. Sheppard says she pointed pepper spray at the officers. And Sheppard says she refused to comply with orders to put her hands behind her back to be handcuffed. She's cahrged with assault, resisting arrest, menacing and possession of a noxious material.
Officer Lucas Krull suffered minor injuries.
Sheppard says once the officer's professional standards review is complete, it will be submitted to the Civilian Review Board. Listen to Sheppard's news conference here:
