Canandaigua, NY -- Mercy Flight Central is raising money to buy night vision goggles for its flight crews.
President Neil Snedeker says 30 percent of their flights are at night -- often to dark, remote locations. He says onboard lights don't always highlight obstructions and people in the landing zones.
He says the goal of the funraising campaign is $240,000 to cover 13 sets of goggles and training for their use.
The next fundraiser is a NASCAR-themed wine tasting event next Thursday at the Mercy Flight hangar in Canandaigua. It's a few days ahead of the Sprint Cup race at Watkins Glen, and the guests will include Richard Childress of Childress Racing and Vineyards.
