The Senate Judiciary Committee has unanimously approved the nomination of Rochester attorney Elizabeth Wolford as a federal judge for western New York.
Wolford would be the first woman to serve on the federal bench in this district.
During her recent confirmation hearing, Senator Charles Schumer pointed to Wolford's stellar legal background, close ties to the region, temperament and leadership skills.
Wolford was born in Buffalo, grew up in Fairport and lives in Honeoye Falls. Her nomination now moves to the full Senate.
