(AP) U.S. – Ford is recalling about 12,500 cars and SUVs because the child locks on rear doors could fail, allowing kids to unlock and open the back doors.
The recall affects 2013 Ford Explorer, Taurus, and Lincoln MKS vehicles built in November and December 2012.
Ford said that opening and closing the doors enough times can move the mechanism from locked to unlocked without warning
. The company will start sending notices to owners next month.
