Rochester, NY -- The sentence is 7 and a half to 15 years behind bars for Mark Scerbo, the Penfield motorcyclist convicted of felony charges in the accident last summer that killed bicyclist and Fairport teacher Heather Boyum. He was also fined $10,000 and ordered to pay $15,000 restitution.
Scerbo was accused of being drunk and high at the time of the accident, which happened just weeks after his release from prison.
Co-defendant Megan Merkel was sentenced on lesser charges to time served, probation and more than $1,000 in fines.
The former couple stood trial together this spring for the accident last July.
