Hamlin, N.Y. - Monroe County Sheriff's deputies arrested a Hamlin man Friday after he apparently shot a dog while trying to shoot a person.
Phillip Dodson, 23, was arrested after deputies said he fired several shots from a handgun into a house on Sweden Walker Road, intending to hit a person.
The family dog was shot instead.
A short time later, deputies located Dodson's vehicle driving down Route 531 at Elmgrove Road and took Dodson into custody. A handgun was found in the vehicle.
Dodson was arraigned in Sweden Town Court on charges of first-degree reckless endangerment and second-degree criminal possession of a weapon.
He remains in the Monroe County Jail in lieu of $100,000 cash bail or bond.
Additional charges will be filed against Dodson by the Rochester Police Department for a shooting that occurred in the City of Rochester a couple of weeks ago.
