(13WHAM) Rochester, N.Y. - The woman who was riding with Heather Boyum the day she was killed testified Thursday in the trial of two people accused of killing the Fairport teacher.
Prosecutors allege Mark Scerbo and Megan Merkel were under the influence of drugs and alcohol when they hit and killed Boyum.
Marie Boudreau-Ninkob was Boyum's training partner. They were training that day on Route 250 in Penfield last summer, with a plan to bike 30 miles and then go for a run.
She testified that Scerbo, who was driving the motorcycle, cut her off before hitting Boyum.
That sent Boyum into the path of the car driven by Merkel, according to Boudreau-Ninkob.Following the accident, Boudreau-Ninkob said two women got out of Merkel's car and checked on Scerbo, but not on Boyum.
When Boudreau-Ninkob walked over to Boyum, she said she looked peaceful and showed no signs of life.
