(13WHAM) Monroe Co., N.Y. - More changes are coming to Monroe Community Hospital, just days after its director was fired amid abuse allegations.
Todd Spring was fired last week, following state and independent reports on abuse allegations.
For the first time in a decade, the hospital will now get a board of directors -- something that was required, but never happened.
The Monroe County Legislature unanimously approved the measure Tuesday.
Democrats say they've been pushing for these changes for years.
"We sent letters to the administration, we've asked questions about it [and] I attempted to appoint someone earlier this year to the board, and never receieved any responses to those inquiries," said Democrat Carrie Andrews, Minority Leader for the county legislature.
"I believe now is the timely time to do it," said Jeff Adair, Monroe County Legislature President. "I'm not going to dwell on the past of what was said then."
The 21-member board consists of people like the Deputy Director for the Department of Health, United Way president, hospital patients and everyday citizens.
