State Police have identified the man who was found dead in a burning SUV in East Bloomfield.
He is 50 year old Brett Shay of Canandaigua.
Troopers have determined that Shay had just finished walking his dog and suffered a heart attack, right after he pulled out of his parking spot at Boughton Park.
The vehicle kept moving on its own, going into the woods. The exact cause of the fire is still under investigation, but police believe the SUV went over some saplings and a brake line or another engine component was damaged.
That caused flammable liquid to be ignited and it burned up the vehicle. The medical examiner determined that Shay died prior to the start of the fire.
The dog died in the fire.
