A Monroe County has given a key approval for a big project in Irondequoit.
COMIDA, the county's industrial development agency, has given the ok for the tax abatements proposed for I-Square. That's a nearly ten million dollar project that will eventually involve putting up seven buildings in the area of Titus Avenue and Cooper Road.
It has been a long process for developer Mike Nolan, but he says now they can start to do the roadwork needed this spring, and start construction on the first building later this year...
"That's mostly for existing tenants, businesses that are along that Titus Avenue corridor now, that are in buildings slated for demolition, we're going to be relocating them into our first building."
Nolan says hopefully the second building will be under construction next year, but the schedule beyond that has not been determined yet. Eventually, he expects the project to create about 60 jobs.
