SUNY Geneseo President Chris Dahl is stepping down from that position. Dahl has been president there for 18 years, and he says as of this October, he will take sabbatical leave for the rest of the academic year.

Dahl says is is a difficult decision, but he and his wife have decided its time to move on to a new phase of their lives.

He hopes to return to research and writing. Dahl has recommended that the Geneseo provost, Carol Long, be appointed interim president while the search goes on for a permanent replacement.

Dahl is currently the longest serving president in the SUNY system
