The Rochester Arson Task Force has  charged a 20 year old woman with arson in connection with a fire that happened on New Year’s Day of 2012.

Officers say Kimberly Smith most recently lived in Georgia, but previously also lived in Rochester. She is accused of starting a fire at an apartment house at 363 Columbia Avenue that heavily damaged that building. It eventually had to be torn down. There were no injuries. The house next door was also injured.

Smith was arrested in Gates on an unrelated charge and turned over to the arson task force. Authorities say the fire was the result of a dispute between Smith and a 2nd floor tenant. She now faces a felony arson charge.
