Police in LeRoy are investigating the death of a five-month-old baby.

Police were called to a home on Main Street just after 5 p.m. Saturday for the report of a fight.

When police arrived, they found an unconscious woman and an infant not breathing. The woman was having a medical issue and CPR was being performed on the infant.

Police assisted with the baby's resuscitation efforts until an ambulance arrived.

The infant was taken to the hospital and was pronounced dead.

Authorities then reviewed the 911 call and determined there was no fight, rather an instance of miscommunication at the dispatch center occurred.

Police are trying to determine if the death was from natural causes or accidental. An investigation is still ongoing.
