Bausch and Lomb has named Robert Bertolini President and Chief Financial Officer, effective immediately. Bertolini previously was Chief Financial Officer of the pharmaceutical company Schering-Plough, until it merged with Merck in 2009.

At B & L, CEO Brent Saunders will retain that title. Previously he was also president. The current Chief Financial Officer, Brian Harris, is still with the company, and officials say they are exploring the possibility of having him take on a different senior leadership role at B & L.

These moves come as B & L's owner, the private equity firm Warburg Pincus, reportedly has been looking at the possiility of filing for an IPO to take B & L  public again. There is also still the possibility Warburg could try to sell the company to another business.
