Rochester Police have released more information about an incident where an officer fired at a suspect over the weekend.

They have now charged 21 year old Davon Kendrick of the city with menacing of a police officer and criminal possession of a weapon.

Police responded to a report of a large fight Saturday afternoon on Avenue B near St. Paul Street.  While they were on the way to the scene, officers got information that a man involved in that fight may have been armed with a handgun.

During a foot chase with the suspect, they saw him running with a gun and they say at one point, Kendrick pointed the weapon at police.

Officer Sam Ognibene fired twice at Kendrick, but he was not hit. Police say Kendrick dropped the gun and continued to run and eventually caught him. They also recovered the gun
