The Livingston County Sheriff's Department says that one of its jail deputies has been charged with promoting prison contraband.

Deputies say that 32 year old Robert Schleyer of Dansville has been with the department for five years. He was arrested after an investigation that he was bringing contraband into the jail and giving it to inmates. Authorities did not specify what that contraband was.

Schleyer was also charged with "receiving a reward for official misconduct."   He posted bail and will be back in court at a later date.
