The Monroe County Legislature on Tuesday night gave the ok for buying space at Kodak’s State Street headquarters for a new MCC campus.

The legislature voted along party lines, 19 to 9, to authorize the county to spend three million dollars for several buildings and a parking lot.

Lawmakers turned down a move by the owners of the Sibley Building, Winn Development, to try to get the college to consider staying in the space that they now lease along Main Street.

The Sibley site has been favored by Mayor Tom Richards. College officials and student groups have said they believe the State Street site offers more room to grow.
