There have been several cancellations already at the Rochester airport due to the massive winter storm expected to hit the northeast on Friday.

There were some flights canceled or delayed early Friday morning to places like New York, Washington and Atlanta, but more flights are expected to be canceled later in the day  as the storm gets closer.

The Rochester Airport crews have been put on a different schedule to help them focus more resources on clearing the tarmac when the snow gets here.

Airport Director Mike Giardino says although it's basically a northeast storm, there could be a ripple effect that impacts flights around the country.

It you are traveling by air today, you are advised to check ahead with your airline or at the Monroe County website.
