Rochester Police are releasing more details about three violent incidents that happened Tuesday.

In the incident where officers shot a suspect early Tuesday afternoon on State Street, Police Chief Jim Sheppard revealed Wednesday that the suspect , Timothy Powell, was armed with a knife, when he confronted city police trying to help an eviction order be carried out.

Sheppard says that Powell came at the officers with a knife, and at the same time, sprayed bleach in their faces. They tried to subdue him with a taser, but the weapon missed, and eventually two officers each fired a shot.. One of the bullets hit Powell in the hip. He has a non-life threatening injuries.

The officers are on desk duty for now while the investigation continues, but Sheppard believes they acted appropriately...

'Based on our preliminary view we believe that their response and use of deadly physical force was consistent with their training. The investigation will be submitted to the grand jury and they'll make a determination in terms of justification.

Five officers were hit by the bleach, two of them are still getting medical treatment
