A fire in Farmington early Monday morning killed 31 cows. The fire was reported at about 1:30 a.m. on Fox Road.  A person passing by saw the flames coming from the first floor of the barn and called 911.

Also destroyed in the fire were numerous pieces of farm equipment and hay. The barn was a total loss. Five fire departments responded to the scene. The barn and the contents were insured.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
