Greece Police say one of their officers was injured in an accident early Sunday morning.

It happened at about 12:45 in the morning, as officers were responding to a call at the Greece Ridge Mall.  They say Officer Michael Miller was traveling south on Fetzner Road when his patrol car was struck by a car coming from the opposite direction.

Authorities say the other vehicle was speeding, and crossed the double-yellow line, moving head-on toward the police car. The officer tried to slow down and pull to the right, while at the same time turning on his emergency lights to alert the oncoming driver.

The other car sideswiped the patrol car, causing extensive damage to both vehicles. Officer Miller was treated at Strong for minor injuries and released.

The driver of the other car, 31 year old Paul Mandell of Greece (pictured in this article) was treated at the scene. He was charged with felony drunk driving and other vehicle and traffic charges.
