Clifton Springs Hospital is cutting 58 positions. Hospital officials say the move is needed to streamline operations as they prepare for the potential reductions in reimbursement, and a shift in how future services will be delivered in light of the new federal "Affordable Care Act."
Hospital CEO Dr. Lewis Zulick says this is a difficult but necessary move, and he says other hospitals across the state are facing similar issues.
Zulick says they used a labor management consulting team that compared their workforce to other hospitals their size, and they decided the cutbacks were needed to maintain a financial sound institution
