Orleans County Deputies say that a Spencerport man suffered a serious head injury in a snowmobile accident in Kendall on Wednesday afternoon.

They say that 35 year old John Battista was riding his sled near Roosevelt Highway and and Kendall Road. Both he and another snowmobiler, 46 year old Frederick Kirkpatrick of Rochester, were headed toward a snowmobile trail when Battista's machine ran into a drainage ditch.

Battista, who was wearing a helmet, was ejected from the sled and thrown head first into Kirkpatrick's snowmobile. Kirkpatrick was not injured.

Battista is listed in guarded condition at Strong Hospital.
