The U.S. Postal Service in Western NY is doing some hiring. Officials plan to hire 300 employees throughout the region.

They are called "city carrier assistants," and they do the same work as postal carriers. But they are not permanent positions. Those who are chosen will work for about a year, and it's possible after that time they will be re-appointed for another year, and they could also be eligible to be permanently hired as people retire and those positions need to be filled.

The pay is 15 dollars an hour. There are paid vacation days, and it's possible there could be some health benefits depending how how the new federal health care plans are rolled out

To apply, you must do that online at www.usps.com/employment.
