An SUV slammed into a building in Rochester late Friday night near East Main Street and North Winton Road.
Police say at about 11:30 RPD officers were in a nearby parking lot when they saw an SUV traveling east on Main Street at a high rate of speed. Within seconds, the car failed to negotiate a turn at the intersection, and crashed into a building at 696 North Winton Road.
That building houses a business in the front called “ Epicurean Treasures” and it has a residence in the back. The vehicle crashed through the front of the building into the business.
Officers were immediately on the scene and helped a male and female get out of the car just before fire engulfed the vehicle and the business.
Police then helped a man and woman, along with their pets, get out of the attached residence. They were not injured.
The people from the SUV had non-life threatening injuries and were taken to Rochester General for treatment. Two officers were evaluated for smoke inhalation.
Police say the investigation is still going on, and it is possible there could be charges.
