Wegmans officials are releasing some more details about the upcoming changes at their East Avenue store in Rochester.
As Wegmans gets ready to open their new store, the company is now saying it expects to close the existing store sometime during the last week of February. The exact date has not been determined yet.
That store will have to be closed for about two months, so it can be demolished and the space prepared for the expanded parking lot for the new store which is slated to open on May 19th.
But Wegmans officials also say that they will move the pharmacy from the East Ave. store to a temporary location during that time. Right after the East Ave. store closes, the pharmacy will be in leased space across the street, next to the Country Club diner. The hours of operation for the pharmacy will remain the same.
Wegmans says it can also transfer a prescription to another one of its locations if that's what the customer chooses. Or, it can mail the prescription to a customer's home (that service available only for East Ave. customers)
